About OnTrent

The OnTrent Initiative is a partnership project involving a wide range of public, voluntary and commercial organisations. The project is working to secure a sustainable balance between the natural and historic heritage, agriculture, commercial activity and development along the River Trent.
The OnTrent Initiative encourages everyone who's work, business or enjoyment relies on or influences the Trent to get involved.

Where does the initiative cover? The initiative area focuses on the low-lying land in parishes adjacent to the River Trent between Stoke-on-Trent and the Humber Estuary. Where ncessary we also wok on the tributaries of the Trent to support work that is not possible on the Trent itself.

The work of OnTrent falls mainly into one of 1) Influencing policy,      2) Raising Awareness and 3) Delivering Projects. There is lots of information about OnTrent, it's work and the issues it seeks to influence on this website.

Mineral Restoration Seminar - 26th September 07

OnTrent organised a seminar to discuss the opportunities for mineral restoration in the Trent Valley. The event was attended by representatives of Industry, Conservation Bodies & Local Authorities. OnTrent Guidelines

These are a set of guidelines to encourage the development of areas and initiatives along the Trent Valley that contribute to the aims of OnTrent. If partners, groups, developers or others wish to badge a project as OnTrent, they need to demonstrate their work applies the appropriate guidelines. OnTrent Priority Habitats

This list of habitats is available to anyone advising on or managing land in Trent floodplain. It lists several types of wetland habitat that are appropriate for management or restoration within the Trent Valley. To download the document please click here (PDF file, 64KB).
