The Wolseley Centre
A 26 acres site of nature reserve and former landscape gardens adjacent to the River Trent. It is the home of the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust and includes lakes, board walk, wet meadow, wildlife garden, sensory walk and visitor centre.

Open: The site is open for pedestrians 24 hours a day with the car park and visitor centre open 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday and 11am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday (Weekends from Easter to November).

Cannock Chase Country Park
Rolling hills, heather, quiet forests and fallow deer provide great opportunities for walking, wildlife watching and cycling. The visitor centre has a café and is the starting point of numerous self-guided walking and family cycling routes, including special routes for disabled people.
There are impressive views of the Trent Valley from the high points on the northern edge of Cannock Chase. The National Memorial Arboretum
Varied collection of trees and memorial plots as well as riverside walks and Britain’s only Millennium Chapel at the confluence of the Rivers Tame and Trent.

Shugborough Hall
900 acres of parkland and gardens. Georgian Mansion house managed by the National Trust. Home to Lord Lichfield. The River Sow joins the River Trent in the grounds of the Shugborough Estate upstream of Essex Bridge.

Burton upon Trent Washlands
Large area of the River Trent floodplain accessible for walking with information on wildlife and history of the washlands.

Fradley Junction, Trent and Mersey Canal
The historic Trent and Mersey Canal, runs near to the Trent from Stoke to Shardlow. Built over 200 years ago it links the two rivers of its name and is part of over 2000 miles of waterway, managed by British Waterways.
