GRANTS
There are several grants available for land managers, community groups and organisations to apply to for funding to help with a project or business. Grants are available for a variety of different types of work; to benefit wildlife, the environment, communities, education, access, rural business, local heritage and more.
OnTrent promotes these grants and encourages applications from land managers, communities and environmental groups in the Trent Valley.
Brief details of grants available in the Trent Valley are listed below with a link to the relevant website. Grants are divided into 3 categories; community-environmental grants, project based grants, and land based grants.
Community-Environmental Grants
Name of Grant: Awards for All
Awards for all is a Lottery Grants scheme which fund projects that enable people to take part in art, sport, heritage and community activities, as well as projects that promote education, the environment and health in the local community. How much is available? Up to £5000 for community groups

Name of Grant: Barclays SiteSavers
Barclays SiteSavers helps communities take action to transform derelict eyesores on their doorstep into dynamic places for play, education, relaxation and fun.
How much is available? Awards of up to £5000 for community environmental projects.

Name of Grant: Biffaward Small Grants Scheme
The Small Grants Scheme to enables groups to quickly access lower levels of funding in order to improve the quality of life in their community. Projects must fall into one of the following categories:
- Wildlife and habitat conservation
- Informal education and lifelong learning
- Sport, culture, recreation.
This is a Landfill tax credit scheme operated by Biffa Waste Services and administered by the Wildlife Trust Headquarters (RSNC).
How much is available? Grants of between £250-£5000 available to not-for-profit community-led organisations within 10 miles of a Biffa operation. Website: www.biffaward.org.uk
Name of Grant: Doorstep Greens
The Lottery New Opportunities Fund offers grants to communities to develop new green space and improve quality of life, these grants are administered by the Countyside Agency.
How much is available? £10,000 to £150,000

Name of Grant: Ethnic Minorities Award Scheme for Environmental Projects
This small scheme is aimed at schools, community groups and individuals undertaking projects which concern the environment and involve people from ethnic communities.

Hanson Environment Fund Community Grants Scheme
Hanson operates its environment fund using the landfill tax credits to support recycling, waste minimisation, environmental and community initiatives. How much is available? £250-£4000 Website www.hansonenvfund.org
Name of Grant: Leicestershire County Council's SHIRE Grant scheme
Leicestershire County Council provides a wide range of support for local communities and individuals, who are working to improve the quality of life in Leicestershire:

Lincolnshire Landscape Grant Scheme

Name of Grant: Living Spaces
Living Spaces provide grants to help people improve open spaces in their neighbourhood and create valuable places for the whole community to enjoy, such as play areas, community parks and nature areas.

Name of Grant: Local Heritage Initiative
Grants available from the Heritage Lottery Fund for community organisations who wish to investigate, explain or care for their local landscape, landmarks, traditions and culture. The Countryside Agency provide advice and assistance for applicants.

Name of Grant: BTCV People’s Places
The scheme is open to community groups in rural and urban areas across England. Awards are targeted at communities living in areas of deprivation and at disadvantaged groups. It offers groups a chance to make a difference to their community by creating or improving a "people's place". This could be an area of land or a building, which the group wants to turn into an environmental community resource.

The ERDP aims to help farmers and foresters to become more competitive, diverse, flexible and environmentally responsible. The following grants are available in the Trent Valley.

ERDP Project based schemes are focussed at individual developments and projects, and aim to promote imaginative and varied schemes within rural areas. Name of Grant: Objective 2 Funding
